A neighborhood
community practicing
creativity, compassion, justice, and joy.

West Central Abbey is a neighborhood worshiping community in Spokane exploring faith, creativity, and justice together.

Our vision is to be like a riparian zone for the city—a living, restorative place where physical and spiritual needs are met so that people are connected, nourished, and refreshed for their journey.

Our mission is to invite all people, especially the weary and disappointed, into a community of love—feasting around God’s table of justice, joy, compassion, and peace.

At the Abbey, our shared values shape how we live together:

  • Creativity – We seek poetic solutions: the beautiful, inspired, and surprising.

  • Consent – We say “yes” whenever we can and respect “no” as a good and holy answer.

  • Community – We embrace our weirdness and collaborate authentically, honoring each person’s sacred story.

  • Celebration – We resist despair through joy, laughter, and throwing parties like Jesus.

  • Compassion – We stand in solidarity with our neighborhood and engage with the suffering around us.

Our gatherings are designed to be welcoming and accessible for people of all ages and needs. During liturgy you are welcome to move around and make use of the resources available in the space—couches for comfortable seating, tea, water, snacks, coloring pages, and fidget toys.

All are welcome to receive Holy Eucharist
(Holy Communion—sometimes called “Breadtime” by the kids). Gluten-free bread and juice are always available.
